Comparative Anatomy Project
The purpose of this project was to gain a deeper understanding of different traits that animals have evolved to have through evolution. We were given preserved animals to dissect and observe their characteristics. By looking at their characteristics we were able to compare the biology of animals and their structures that allowed them to thrive( e.g. amphibians breathe through their skin).
Below is the ecology of each animal we dissected and/or learned about.
Below is a table comparing the different phyla.
Below are pictures of the animals we dissected.
Reflection
This lab has taught me so much about evolution and evolutionary processes. I learned how to properly use tools for a successful dissection. Transitional species intrigue me and I want to learn more about them. Things I did well was following instructions and staying focused. Somethings that I could've done better would be identifying the structures of the animals and putting more details into my ecology paragraphs. Besides that, the dissections were a success!
